My health came at the expense of these dreams, and I eventually experienced deep depressive feelings, physical burnout, burnout-related symptoms, and a diagnosed panic disorder. I was forced to shift my focus toward my own recovery, entering a period of self-development and rebuilding.

During this time, I came into contact with various disciplines within mental healthcare and natural medicine. My fascination with mental and physical balance, performance, optimization, and biohacking grew. I immersed myself in psychology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, breathwork, and the Wim Hof Method. At the same time, I attempted to continue my path within the music industry, but I strongly noticed that my interests were changing.

“True healing lies in balance between body, mind, and the courage to slow down and be vulnerable.”

About me:

My name is Ruben Schalleij, founder of Chronic Health Practice.

From a young age, I have always been involved in sports and creative pursuits. I made a lot of music and always strived for the highest achievable level.

As a teenager, my goal was to establish myself at the top of the music industry. From an early age, I became involved in the industry, first as a performing musician and later behind the scenes. I worked as a label and artist manager within various organizations and as a marketer for labels and artists. Within the music industry, I experienced a hyper-competitive environment and a constant demand to perform, combined with many late working hours. As a young man, I was not yet equipped to handle this, nor was I able to find my own path within it, and ultimately it took its toll.

About me:

I have always been involved in guiding creatives and high performers through my roles in artist management. I decided to retrain in complementary healthcare to support people who demand a lot from themselves and find themselves stuck, helping them regain balance and achieve optimal health. I am currently studying psychosomatic kinesiology.

My goal is to help people live free of complaints and full of energy, and to provide them with the tools they need to achieve their goals and perform at their best. In addition to my work at Chronic Health Practice, I enjoy staying active. I practice jiu-jitsu, running, and various other sports, love camping in the mountains, and regularly take ice baths. I find my sense of calm behind the piano or with a guitar in hand.
