About
My name is Ruben Schalleij, founder of Chronic Health Practice.
From a young age, I’ve always been passionate about sports and creativity. I made a lot of music and always strived to reach the highest possible goals.
As a teenager, my aim was to establish myself at the top of the music industry. I entered the industry at a young age, first as a performing musician, and later behind the scenes. I worked as a label and artist manager within various organizations and also worked as a marketer for labels and artists. In the music industry, I experienced the hyper-competitive environment and the constant pressure to perform, combined with long working hours. As a young man, I wasn’t yet resilient to this, and I couldn’t find my own way within it. Eventually, this took its toll.
My health suffered as a result of these dreams, and I eventually experienced deep depressive feelings, physical burnout, and exhaustion. I was forced to shift my focus to my own recovery, and a period of self-development and rebuilding began.
During this time, I encountered various disciplines within mental health care and naturopathy. My fascination with mental and physical balance, performance, optimization, and biohacking grew. I delved into psychology, traditional Chinese medicine, breathwork, and the Wim Hof method. I also tried to continue my path in the music industry, but I strongly felt that my interests were changing.
I've always been involved in guiding creatives and high performers through my artist management roles. I decided to retrain in complementary healthcare to support people who push themselves too hard and get stuck, helping them to achieve balance and optimal health. I am currently studying psychosomatic kinesiology.
My goal is to help people live pain-free and energetic lives, providing them with the tools to reach their goals and perform at their best. Outside of my work at Chronic Health Practice, I enjoy staying active. I practice jiujitsu, running, and various other sports, love camping in the mountains, and regularly take ice baths. My rest I find behind the piano or guitar.
